SAMBT is looking for:

a blind or partially sighted person, preferably a graduate, who wants to learn to fundraise and who enjoys running blindness sensitisation workshops. This is a part-time; projected 10 hours a week position.

Location: remote work combined with donor meetings, sensitisation events and field trips.

This position is for you if:

  • Your are blind or partially sighted
  • You are a graduate – preferable.
  • You are well-organised and have good verbal and written communication skills, and you have a genuine interest in building authentic connections with donors and holding long-term relationships with them.  
  • You have a special interest in creating awareness of blindness as disability and blind people’s right to independence training.

 Key characteristics

  • A willingness to learn to fundraise, while previous fundraising experience would be welcomed. 
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree.           
  • Proficient in the full suite of Microsoft Office Products: MS Word, Excel, Outllook and PowerPoint.
  • Exceptional communication skills, proactive and self-motivated team player.
  • Honesty and integrity.
  • Ability to work autonomously without continuous supervision.
  • Passionate about advocacy and creating impact in the blindness sector.

Key areas of responsibility

  • Build relationships with potential new donors, while nurturing existing relationships.
  • Achieve financial income targets as set.
  • Present monthly fundraising reports to the Managing Trustee.
  • Present sensitisation and awareness events around blindness as disability.
  • Ad hoc duties as requested from time to time, for example communications, etc.
